Blaze is a gorgeous 8-year-old Shetland Sheepdog that came to us through Aimee’s Gentle Grooming in January of this year. Last month, while here for a routine bath, our technicians noticed a mass at the base of Blaze’s tail. This mass had been there for quite sometime (benign) but had now burst and was at risk of becoming infected. Dr. Reagan and Blaze’s owners decided that the best course of action would be to remove the mass and the surrounding necrotic tissue from the base of his tail. The tail is a tricky area to operate on, but Dr. Reagan did a great job with the small amount of skin he had to work with. Blaze has had to come back for several minor bandage changes due to the nature of his surgery, but he has been a wonderful patient. He is calm and sweet whenever he’s here, and he is being a good boy at home (not messing with his bandages). Blaze’s owners are doing a great job keeping up with his care and we look forward to providing them with care for years to come!
