New Clients: Your First Vet Visit at Foothill Animal Hospital
Our veterinary team welcomes you and your pet. Here's what to bring, the forms to fill out, and what to expect.
What to bring
- Your pet: dogs on a leash, cats and small pets in a carrier
- The name of your previous vet. We'll request your pet's records from them before your visit; bring any paperwork you have only if we ask.
- A list of current medications, supplements and food
- Your New Client Form, completed online before your visit
- Your pet insurance details, if insured

What to expect
When you arrive, you will be greeted warmly and shown to an examination room after we check in your pet. One of our team members will usually start by asking about your pet's medical history, current condition and the reason for your visit.
Then one of our doctors will examine your pet, ask further questions and may recommend diagnostic tests. Most tests can be run in the hospital, and your doctor will discuss a possible diagnosis and treatment plan. This is a great time to ask questions. Our front desk then processes payment and schedules any follow ups.
Our goal is to see everyone on time, but emergencies sometimes create delays. We will communicate and keep you updated.

Are you accepting new patients?

What should I bring to my first visit?

What happens during the first visit?
A team member gathers your pet's history, a doctor examines your pet and may recommend tests, which can usually be run in the hospital, then discusses a diagnosis and treatment plan if needed.
Do I need to be 18?
Yes. You need to be 18 or older in order to authorize treatment.
